I was just browisng DA, as you do when you're bored off your wits, and I came across a comment that someone had posted on someone else's profile. They were basically saying that digital art is cheating and it just isnt the same as traditional art. I mean, i know everyone is entitled to their own opinion and all, but I was a little annoyed to see this comment, implying that digital art is so much easier in comparison to traditional. Of course, i was annoyed because as a digital artist, i know how hard it can be to try and produce something that looks good. Its not like we press all these shortcut keys and BAM the picture is done. It takes a lot of hard work.
Sure, digital artists have tools like blenders and layers, which i do admit, is making art a little easier, but you've still got to learn how to use the tools, which in itself can be hard enough. Whether you've got a tablet or a mouse, you still have to sketch the image, lineart it and then colour it and a lot of the prcesses are the same, to me it seems that traditional art and digital art are very similar, though sometimes i do look at things that are done traditionally and go "how the hell'd they manage that?!" but i also work traditonally. It's just a matter of teaching yourself the processes and things.
So, yeah I do get a bit annoyed when I see people say that digital art is cheating, because i dont think it is. In fact, i think digital art opens up a lot of options in things like colour because of the range of colours a computer can produce vs one a person can produce, and things like being able to change the opacity really help as well.
Don't get me rwong, i'm not saying digital art is HARDER than traditional art, because it isnt...having done both before, i can safely say that my opinion is that they are both roughly as hard as each other, and i love doing both very much. I'd love to be able to work with watercolour like a lot of traditional artists can do, and i'm still learning the ins and outs of markers, but essentially traditional is a) lots of fun and b) similar to a lot of the processes used in digital art.
I also really love looking at both digital and traditional arts.
I actually saw a really funny mock tutorial once about how most people think its way easy to do digital art that basically summed up exactly what it was i'm trying to say, but i don't know if the artist still has it in her gallery/scraps/whatever.
So, long story short, digital art is not cheating, but that doesn't mean i don't value the time and effort put into traditional pieces. It just sucks that some people who work as traditional only media view digital artists as cheaters and to me that sort of says they don't think of digital artists as real artists. (I know it was never actually said, but to me it seems implied)

New account.
So I did it. I made a new dA account.
~Mochi-Chan-x (https://www.deviantart.com/mochi-chan-x) Go find it here. ^^
I'll be really happy to keep you guys as watchers, so please add ^^
This account will still be active for a while. If i decide i don't like my new account, i'll move back here, but this is now a secondary account, which im only keeping right now for groups.
Thinking of changing...
As the title suggests, I'm thinking of making a new account. For starters, this username is something that I had created when I was 16 and stupid. I'm not that person anymore (thank God...) and so i don't really feel like the name is fitting anymore. At the same time, i've been with this account for four years, so ido feel a kind of connection to it. its been what? 4 years? its hard for me, as a sentimentalist, to let that stuff go...
But...as I mentioned earlier, i don't feel like i'm the person that created this account anymore, and it's not really who i want to come off as.
I'd be a very happy girl if deviantart decided to allow us to ch
Is it just me...?
Seriously...is it just me, or does my school have the habit of screwing me over...?
Well, it isn't just me this time, but still...
In february I posted a rant journal about how school had screwed me over literally 1 week before we got back to uni for the year...well, they got a new record this time. Now it would be 5 days before school resumes for the semester, and they've screwed over at least 50 people by cancelling all our classes for one of our subjects and putting us all in one that none of us want. AT ALL. We don't get a choice in it either, unfortunately. We can't say, " huh, no, I'd much rather be in this class please". Naturally my
Back In Business.
That's right, I'm back in the pretty coloured pictures game.
After looking up all the possible problems with my tablet pen, we found out that (though a very helpful website) the magnetic coil for the pen end had broken, and thus needed repair. Contrary to the website however, this didn't fix my problem. So in the end my Dad and i decided to switch the coils on either end, as i never use the eraser end anyway. Now the pen end works like a charm...the buttons are a little bit dodgy though, which is a fair price to pay, all things considering we did have to take it to pieces to swap the coils over. Also got a nasty cut on my finger from the scr

Oh yeah, digital art is sooooooo easy, I just press two buttons and hey! A Rubens appeared!

If it is that easy... Well, let's see'em doing something like that masterpiece. C'mon, is only digital work after all...
In my opinion, Digital tools are only that: Tools. They're advantage is that is a extremely versatile tool. But the computer doesn't draw for you, if you're not good with traditional media you won't be with digital ones either. It is rumored that a Spanish painter called Joaquín Sorolla said once: "If you paint well, you can paint even with shit". Dunno if he said such a thing, but is a big, ultimate truth.
